The holidays have come and gone, and the new year just started, so that means we’re preparing for the 2018 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The world’s largest tech show officially kicks off on Tuesday, January 9 and wraps up on Friday, January 12, and rbb Communications will be there to check out the latest and greatest gadgets, witness leading minds take the global stage to showcase next generation innovations, and uncover breakthrough technologies that can change the way we work, play, and live. To say we’re excited is an understatement!

So, what can we expect to see at this year’s show? Leading technology-focused media has already begun to roll out their previews and predictions, providing insight into the hot tech trends.

CNET predicts the smart home will continue to get smarter with more additions to the recent wave of “voice assistants,” like Alexa. Adding on last year’s emergence of partnerships and integrations, CNET expects to see new and existing smart home products adding voice functionality.  Additionally, the outlet predicts we may see a new smart appliance or two as well.

TechRadar believes that CES will continue the trend of futuristic cars this year, such as self-driving automobiles. However, the outlet also goes on to say that much of the show will involve “deeper integration with smart speakers, like Google Home and Amazon Echo, as well as the digital assistants in our mobile phones.”

We can also expect to see a mix of Augmented Realty, Virtual Reality, and mixed reality, according to Expert Reviews. Following the introduction and mass appeal of past tech such as Microsoft’s HoloLens and Oculus’ Rift, the headsets have opened up a lot of opportunities for third-party developers, and have become more mainstream for consumers. So, it only makes sense that we’ll see even more in the space at CES this year.

Whatever CES 2018 has in store for us, we can be certain it will be exciting and innovative. Follow rbb Communications’ latest updates from CES’ show floor.
