For example, many job seekers are discovering that employers no longer prefer to conduct preliminary interviews in person, but would rather use a live video service like Skype.

Live video is an excellent way for employers to economize time and cut costs related to screening candidates, but many interviewees are not fundamentally prepared to participate in a live video job interview.
