John is a global healthcare communications strategist with three decades of leadership experience, formerly with Merck and currently as a consultant to leading healthcare and life sciences companies.

During his career with Merck, John has developed leadership experience across a range of global communications disciplines. He led its international/regional communications program, with responsibility for a network of over 200 communications professionals around the world. He also led communications for its 16,000-employee global manufacturing division.

John led all ex-US communications for Merck’s 2009 merger with Schering-Plough and led the integration of its global subsidiary communications teams. Earlier in his career, John headed Merck’s reputation management program and had responsibility for executive communications, corporate employee communications and corporate responsibility communications. John also has extensive product communications experience, leading Merck’s communications teams in support of its cardiovascular and respiratory franchises.

Since 2014, John has provided consulting support in employee and corporate responsibility communications for several heading healthcare and life-sciences companies, most notably with LabCorp and its Covance Drug Development business. He is an avid nature and wildlife photographer and blogger and serves as Board Secretary and Communications Chair for New Jersey Audubon, the state’s leading conservation organization. John earned his Bachelor of Arts from La Salle University with a major in English.
