What should you know about me?
Born in Virginia, raised in Rhode Island, and after 20 years in South Florida I consider myself a Floridian. I love news, sports and have an eclectic taste in music that ranges from the Grateful Dead to N.W.A.

I landed in communications after graduation when one of my college professors at Florida Atlantic University encouraged me to apply for an internship at NBC-affiliate WPTV in West Palm Beach.

At the end of the summer, I was hired as a producer. The job was torture due to the overnight schedule and lack of opportunity to be creative so I worked there for less than a year, but I gained valuable knowledge about story development and the inner workings of a newsroom.

I eventually leveraged the experience to get my first job in public relations (at a nonprofit).

What career achievement am I most proud of?
So far, my greatest career achievement is being given the opportunity to lead rbb’s Professional Service and Corporate Practice, which involves leading account teams and counseling the agency’s clients to proactively drive their brands forward. Traditionally, media relations has been a cornerstone of marketing for professional service firms, but increasingly integrated communications programs that balance digital, creative content and SEO with earned media are gaining footing and bringing tangible value.

Guiding rbb’s B2B clients to evolve their marketing into integrated campaigns and tapping into the skills and services within our family of brands (OutOfTheBlue Advertising, Digital Park and SpiderBoost Communications) has been a very rewarding and informative experience.

Why rbb?
Three words: Employee Driven Culture. Marketing communications firms are notorious for being stressful, demanding and often difficult places to work, but rbb is different. There is trust, transparency and kindness afforded to all employees and makes this a great place to work. I love how our partners treat the employees, respect and serve our clients and how staff is encouraged to grow professionally and get involved with organizations that we are passionate about and make a difference in our community and industry. With the firm’s full support, I am actively involved with the Society of Business Editors and Writers (SABEW) and a proud board member of The Underline project in Miami where we are looking to help improve the city’s transportation, health and culture by building a 10-mile linear park under the Metrorail.

The Formal Introduction
Josh is a former print and TV journalist with nearly 15 years managing corporate and B2B communications. His journalism experiences give him a unique understanding of how the news industry works and how to tell a story that attracts reporters, influencers, fans and followers. Throughout his professional career, Josh has managed multi-faceted campaigns for national and regional Florida clients in the financial services, accounting, logistics, legal and healthcare industries.

The Real Story
Josh went from living in the smallest state in the U.S. (Rhode Island) to one of the largest when he moved to Florida two weeks after graduating high school based on the promise of warm weather and more opportunity. Seeing his future was in words and definitely not math or science, Josh earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in communications which brought him into journalism. Once he discovered that it wasn’t the career for him he leveraged his experience and learned skills to shift into public relations and marketing where he has become a business news junkie, story teller and sometimes, therapist.

The Name-Dropping
Josh leads rbb’s Professional Service and Corporate Practice managing communications programs for DHL Express, Bureau Veritas, Bank of America, Florida Crystals, Gunster, Kaufman Rossin, Mast Capital and Grossman Roth Yaffa Cohen.
