Sri RamaswamiSrikant (Sri) Ramaswami has been named Executive Vice President, Global and Emerging Markets, Healthcare, at rbb Communications.

Ramaswami brings more than 20 years of global experience in communications counsel to C-suite executives and will spearhead expansion of rbb’s healthcare and corporate practices in the U.S. and abroad, according to rbb Communications’ CEO Christine Barney.

“Sri’s global breadth of knowledge in media, brand launches, disease awareness campaigns, crisis/issues management, social and digital, employee engagement, and healthcare marketing elevates rbb’s offerings, and will grow our practice areas and international reach,” Barney said.  “He will begin by establishing a New York/New Jersey office for rbb to enhance our Northeast presence.”

Ramaswami joins rbb after 12 years at Johnson & Johnson, where he most recently led global communication efforts targeting key internal and external audiences for the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices business. His previous roles include serving as Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs for the Company’s Asia Pacific Medical Devices business, based in Singapore.  Additionally, he spent two years as Head of Communications and Public Affairs for Johnson & Johnson/Xian-Janssen Pharmaceutical Ltd., in Beijing, where he led the China pharmaceutical communications efforts after supporting the Company’s U.S. Pharmaceuticals and Research & Development businesses.

During his tenure in China and Singapore, Ramaswami was extensively involved in raising awareness of mental health issues and fundraising activities to help children with cleft lip and cleft palate. He also served as Johnson & Johnson’s communication leader during the formation and launch of the Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed), which represents manufacturers and suppliers of medical equipment, devices and in vitro diagnostics, industry associations and other key stakeholders associated with the medical technology industry in Asia Pacific.

Before his career at Johnson & Johnson, Ramaswami held various executive roles at both Pfizer Inc., leading the communication efforts for the respiratory and ophthalmic franchises, and Merck & Co., Inc., where he was responsible for corporate reputation.

Ramaswami began his career at Associated Press/Dow Jones and held agency positions at the Weber Group and Burson-Marsteller. He holds a B.A. in Politics and Economics from Brandeis University, a M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University and a J.D. from SUNY Buffalo Law School. He will be based in Princeton, New Jersey.
