The lure of Florida sunshine led me to a great working relationship “way back when” with the current partners of rbb, sparked the entrepreneurial leap to start my own agency, and brought me full circle back to old friends and colleagues when rbb acquired the agency.
Trust, respect, exceptional talent and a drive to be the best are words and phrases that come to mind when I think “why rbb.”
The formal introduction
A native of New York, John Quinn is a principal and executive vice president of rbb. He heads the health care and education practice. Strengths include health care communications, corporate communications, reputation management and marketing public relations.
The real story
I started my career in health care publishing at Nursing & Healthcare magazine before transitioning to public relations at a health care nonprofit, then on to the big world of pharmaceuticals at GCI Group, a subsidiary of Grey Advertising. I landed my first Florida-based job at Bruce Rubin Associates, the predecessor to rbb, then co-founded and managed an agency for more than a decade before it was acquired by rbb in 2009.
The name dropping
With nearly three decades of experience with clients at national, regional and local levels, I’ve had the chance to work with a wide range of exceptional brands. Recent health care experience includes Cleveland Clinic Florida, VITAS Healthcare, Florida Blue, United HomeCare, Plaza Health Network and White Oak Senior Care. On the education front, the roster includes a number of colleges within Kaplan University and Florida International University.
I attended Hartwick College in upstate New York and graduated from Pace University, near New York City. Although people tell me I speak more like a professor than a street-smart New Yorker, I credit my wit and drive (and the way I drive) to my Empire State roots, and my flair for the written word to the Blarney Stone of my ancestral homeland.
